SMSIS Kiddos on Choosing to Live Mouth Smart on World Oral Health Day

As part of the school’s commitment in promoting social awareness among students, Nurse Yani, together with the KG3 afternoon students and their teachers from the SMSIS Early Learning Centre, had recently visited the Dental Department of Ministry of Health.

In observance of the World Oral Health Day, this aimed to celebrate the benefits of a healthy mouth and to promote worldwide awareness of the issues around oral health from early life into old age and the importance of dental hygiene.

This was an opportunity for the kiddos to experience becoming dentists and patients by checking and looking at each other’s teeth using a mouth mirror. A demonstration on bad effects of drinking fizzy drinks and eating sweets made them realize the importance of taking care of their teeth. They were also reminded on the good effects of drinking water, eating healthy food, observing proper oral hygiene habits and getting a regular dental check - up.

The learnings they got from the engaging activities spread awareness on staying fit and healthy and to further promote health and well – being for teachers, staff and students.

Indeed, it was a visit worth remembering for all the kiddos who joined the trip.
