SMSIS Commemorates Hari Raya

Marking the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramadhan is the festival of Eid, known as Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Seri Mulia Sarjana International School recently held a festive celebration showcasing Hari Raya in Brunei as well as wishing His Majesty a Happy 71st Birthday.

The celebration enabled the school community to have a deeper understanding and appreciation to Malay culture, beliefs, traditions and customs.

These series of activities gave students and teachers alike a memorable time learning, understanding and appreciating Malay culture and its tradition. It also promoted stronger ties amongst the teachers, learners and staff as they greeted one another with salam.

The school was adorned with colourful lanterns, ribbons and decorations. The engaged students, teachers and staff dressed gaily in vibrant colours of traditional Malay costumes.

The entire event was filled with celebrative cheers and joys as everyone was treated to a dose of revelry such as the singing of the Hari Raya songs by the kiddos, an elegant traditional Malay dance rendered by the selected upper primary students and a story telling performed by the selected learners on the life story of His Majesty.

With the spirit of Hari Raya, the learners headed back to their classrooms to enjoy and feast with an array of traditional Malay food which provided great food choices and were usually shared and eaten during the festival.

It was indeed a special day to remember for everyone involved.
